I was asked to write a series of Christmas-related pieces with different themes, ranging from the fall of man to the birth of Christ to the hope we now have, for a carol service back at home and I was really excited about it. Wrote 5 pieces including a sonnet, a prose, a song and two other poems. I’ll share the sonnet on here. Here goes.
The Fall Of Mankind: A Sonnet
Resplendent rays of sun radiate into the lush garden.
The garden that was called Eden.
The garden of harmony and warmth and earthly things.
Where the lions roar and the birds sing.
As would have happen on a certain day.
A mischievous serpent came the woman’s way.
Beguiling words to her were said.
To mankind’s fall with a bite of fruit she was led.
Man and woman suddenly aware of their wrong deed.
So among the trees they both hid.
To prove mercy, God Himself clothed them.
Yet to prove honor to His Word, He cursed them.
The free fellowship with God no longer to find.
And thus began the fall, the fall of mankind.
